  Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more challenging than the national average, so don't forget that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. The put-in location is a short drive from Edwards, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. The Gore Canyon section of Colorado River in Colorado is 9.5 miles long and it is classified as a class IV-V section by American
    Whitewater. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. This is a pretty decent length section, suitable for an afternoon trip. The wonderful Colorado scenery and the sparkling
of the sunlight on the water attract people from near and far. Great exercise and just being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. There are plenty of hotels here if you want to spend a night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. When you're paddling down a Park Range river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. This  
is one of a small number of paddling sections in this river system, there are a few others too.

Briefly about the general area:
Near Colorado River you hit upon great spots like Beaver Dam Gulch; you can go for a hike on the Sheep Drive Trail. Yeah, come up here to the Park Range for a fine time. You'll meet a lot of folks from Silverthorne here, and magnificent hiking is available along the Eaglesmere Trail. This is a really good river. Colorado River is a location that is relatively dry commonly. The wettest month of the year is frequently July, that's the one that rains the most, and the driest month is February.
