Colorado whitewater, Crystal River

Gunnison county, Crystal Mill Falls to Crystal Gorge section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.

CLASS III-IV(V)     3 miles
The scenic beauty of Gunnison County and the water flowing gracefully down Crystal River are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The average Colorado whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be harder to run than those in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. This is not the only paddling stretch in this river system, there are others too. There's camping
available near Crystal River. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good places. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance
then no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while will have you coming back for more. The put-in is not too far from Edwards, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. This stretch of Crystal River in Colorado is 3 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class III-IV(V) section. This is
