CLASS II-III     19 miles
  The starting location is a reasonable drive from Montrose, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. This stretch of Dolores River in Colorado is 19 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II-III section. A good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors have people coming from far and near. This is not the only paddling stretch in this river system, there are others too. The
    nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. The nature scenery of Montezuma.Dolores County and the cool
fresh water have people coming here. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you won't find a large number of other places. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners.

There are plenty of folks from
 
Cahone here at Dolores River. There are good places to discover along the Ormiston Point Stock Driveway. Dolores River gets very little rainfall. The wettest month of the year is generally October, that's the one that rains the most while June is frequently the driest month. All through the warm months at Dolores River temperatures are regularly in the 80's while night lows are ordinarily in the 50's. Highs through the winter are mostly in the 30's, and nighttime lows in the 0's for Dolores River.
