The beautiful scenery of Colorado and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. If you're coming from Montrose it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. forget that rivers here are less forgiving. There are so many stretches to paddle in this river system, the Slickrock to Bedrock stretch is just one of many. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Great

You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Briefly about the general area: While staying at Dolores River you could always discover Little Gypsum Valley, and if you're going to from Bedrock,
you won't be the only one. Don't leave Dolores River without first going for a hike along the Radium Trail. Summertime highs at Dolores River regularly tend to be in the 90's, and during the night it cools down to the 60's.
For the period of the wintertime the highs are generally in the 40's while Dolores River overnight low temperatures during the wintertime are in the 10's.
