  If you're coming from Edwards it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often more difficult than elsewhere, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that lots of rivers here are not for beginners. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are sure to keep you coming back for more. The wonderful
    Colorado scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water make the trip here worthwhile. There's camping available near East River. Lodging is available near the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're
all set. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of spots for that. There are a few other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. This stretch of East River in Colorado is 0.75 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class IV section.

Briefly about the general area:
There are great places to explore along the Trail Riders Trail, and at East River you
 
always meet someone from Crested Butte. Go for a hike on the Granite Basin Trail, and a spree to Judd Falls will fill your soul with tremendous feelings. The surroundings of this river have so much to offer. Crested Butte is a splendid local ski area. East River is usually a quite dehydrated location. The wettest month of the year is commonly August, that's the one that rains the most; the driest month of the year is February. Summertime highs at East River mostly tend to be in the 70's. For the duration of the moonlight hours it's generally in the 40's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 30's, and night lows at East River through the winter commonly fall into the-10's.
