Colorado whitewater, Homestake Creek

Eagle county, 1/4 mile above confluence with Eagle River section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.

CLASS V     0.25 miles
The average Colorado whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be harder to run than those in other states, so don't forget that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. The natural beauty of Colorado and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water have people coming here. This river system has a few good paddling stretches and the 1/4 mile above confluence with Eagle River section is one of them. Lodging is available near the river, but
you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this is an area
with plenty of spots for that. This section is very short so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. The wild scenery of the Sawatch Range is great. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Edwards, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. The 1/4 mile above confluence with Eagle River stretch of Homestake Creek in Colorado is 0.25 miles long and it is classified
as a class V section by American Whitewater. A bit of exercise and just hanging out with mother nature have a lot of people coming here.

Briefly about the general area:
Good hiking is available along the Two Elk Trail; Homestake Creek is a place with many visitors from Red Cliff. All year is a glorious time in the Sawatch Range if you adore the outdoors. Go for a hike on the Fall Creek Trail, and the best way to spend a winter day is on the slopes of nearby Vail. This is such a fun river. Summertime brings highs in the 70's to Homestake Creek. Once the sun is down it sinks down to the 40's.
