The starting location is a reasonable drive from Durango. The beautiful scenery of Colorado and the playfulness of the water beats anything. There are a few other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. Getting     a good workout and just hanging out with mother nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Lime Creek; Deer Park Trail is a splendid local trail. Lime Creek is a location that is quite dry typically. Of all the months in a year August is the one with the most rain; the driest of the months is June.
