Colorado whitewater, Roaring Fork

Pitkin county, Upper Woody Creek Bridge to Lower Woody Creek Bridge section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.

CLASS III     3.8 miles
The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Colorado are often more challenging than in other states, so don't forget that lots of rivers here are not for beginners. This stretch of Roaring Fork is 3.8 miles long and is a class III section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The natural beauty of Pitkin County and the cool fresh water beats anything. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. This
is a short paddling stretch so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, around here you'll find a large number of
good rivers. There are plenty of hotels here if you want to spend a night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. The starting point is not too far from Edwards, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. This is not the only paddling section in this river system, there are others too.
