The scenic beauty of Colorado and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, and if you make reservations in     advance you're all set. The campgrounds here at San Miguel River are pretty good. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more demanding, so if you're not from around here don't forget that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. This stretch is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so why not pack your camp stove too. The beauty of the Uncompahgre Plateau Mountains is a great plus for this river. This river system has a few good paddling stretches and the Norwood Bridge to Green Truss Bridge section is one of them. The put-in location is a short drive from Montrose, if you're not familiar   with the area there's a road map further down the page. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you won't find a large number of other rivers. Getting some good exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors have a lot of people coming here. Briefly about the general area: The wonderful people of Norwood like to hang out nearby, and don't leave San Miguel River without first going for a hike along the Telephone Draw Trail. These mountains rock, just explore all the exciting things to do in the Uncompahgre Plateau Mountains. Uncompahgre National Forest is a wonderful site any time of year, and nice hiking is available along the Cottonwood Trail.
