The average Colorado whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master than those in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many runs in this state are not easy. The Lake George to Cheesman Reservoir section of South Platte River in Colorado is 7.3 miles long and it is classified as a class V+ section     by American Whitewater. This stretch has has enough mileage, suitable for an afternoon trip. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. A bit of exercise and spending some quality time in nature will make you glad you came. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good places for that around here. This river system is full of great paddling stretches, the Lake George to Cheesman Reservoir stretch is just one of them. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. The Front Range scenery is wonderful. The scenic beauty of Park County   and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water attract people from near and far. Briefly about the general area: A tour to Pike National Forest revives the soul; while you're here you can take a hike along the Hankins Trail. So much cool stuff to do here in the Front Range, too great to be true. Everybody loves Eleven Mile State Park; South Platte River is a place with many visitors from Lake George. The surroundings of this river have so much to offer. A delightful site to check out right next door to South Platte River is Hackett Gulch, and you can have a great hiking adventure along the Longwater Trail.
