  The scenic beauty of Eagle County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream will make you feel great. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Colorado are often tougher than in other states, so don't forget that many runs in this state are not easy. This stretch of Sweetwater Creek in Eagle County is 4.5 miles long and has been rated as a class III-IV section by American Whitewater. Whether you're whitewater
    rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good rivers. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might
end up sleeping in your car. The starting point is not too far from Edwards, as you can see on the road map further down. On this section you do get some distance, you can easily run it on an afternoon. Getting a good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors have a lot of people coming here. There's camping available near Sweetwater Creek. There are a few other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well.

If the weather is splendid here at Sweetwater Creek, you can go for a hike along the South Derby Trail, and if you're here, you might as well have a look at Lucky Gulch. Don't leave Sweetwater Creek without first checking out Hells Gate, and going for a hike along the High Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this area. At this river you will never have a bad time. At Sweetwater Creek you always meet someone from Gypsum. Not much precipitation falls here at Sweetwater Creek. The month with most of the rain is March, and June on the other hand is the driest.
