  If you're coming from Edwards it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. This stretch of Taylor River is 18 miles long and is a class II-IV section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The nature scenery of Gunnison County and the water flowing gracefully down Taylor River attract people from near and far. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive
    a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Getting your paddling muscles activated and spending some quality time in nature are great attractions for lots of people. There
are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. This stretch has enough mileage for an overnight trip, so go ahead and pack your camping stuff. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Colorado is often more difficult than elsewhere, so you'd better keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this is an area with plenty of places for that.

Near Taylor River you hit upon the Summerville Trail which is a great hiking trail, and Taylor River is a place with many visitors from Almont. The Onemile Cattle Trail is a tremendous hiking trail near Taylor River; Big Gulch is a delightful place to spend some time. If you come to this river you will have a good time for sure. Around Taylor River you don’t get a lot of rain. The wettest month of the year is typically December, that's the one that snows the most, and the driest month is June. For the period of the warmest time of the year highs here at Taylor River reach the 70's.
