  The wonderful Colorado scenery and the playfulness of the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The starting location is a short drive from Edwards, as you can see on the road map further down. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Colorado tend to be more challenging than the national average, so better not forget that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. There are some good hotels near the river, but you'd better
    reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The Yampa river park to 12th street section of Yampa River in Colorado is 1 miles long and it is classified as a class III section by American Whitewater. There are
no other sections to paddle along Yampa River than the Yampa river park to 12th street section. This is a very short section so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way in this general area you won't find many other paddling places. There's camping available near Yampa River.

Yampa River and is without doubt a magnificent site to stop at; Yampa River is close to Yampa River Legacy State Park which is a pretty place. The cheerful people of Craig like to hang out nearby. All through the summer months at Yampa River highs are generally in the 80's while overnight lows are ordinarily in the 40's. Highs all through the wintertime are generally in the 20's while Yampa River overnight low temperatures all through the winter are in the 0's. Yampa River is usually a relatively waterless spot. Of all the months in a year October is the one with the most rain, and the driest of the months is January.
