The average Connecticut whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be easier to run than those in other states, so keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less demanding. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Torrington, there's a road map further
    down the page with more info on that. The Paper Mill Road to Housatonic River stretch of East Aspetuck River in Connecticut is 4 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class III section. If you'll be staying
in a hotel you're in luck, lodging is available very near the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors have a lot of people coming here. The nature scenery of Litchfield County and the water flowing gracefully down East Aspetuck River have people coming here. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of places  
for that. There's camping available near East Aspetuck River. This is a pretty decent length section, suitable for an afternoon trip.

Briefly about the general area:
Don't leave East Aspetuck River without popping by Lake Waramaug State Park; on a magnificent day it's a great idea to spend the day at Morris Town Beach. Very delightful scenery and glorious skiing is what you get at Woodbury, and if you want to hit the beach, Pine Ledge is in the neighborhood. This river is so great. Take a hike on the Appalachian National Scenic Trail, and East Aspetuck River is a site with many visitors from New Milford.
