The Hogback Road to Riverton stretch of Farmington River is 2 miles long and has been rated as a class I-II section by American Whitewater. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more forgiving, so you'd better keep in mind that a lot of the rivers
in this state are suitable for beginners. A good workout and spending some quality time in nature have people coming from far and near. The starting point is not too far from Torrington, if you're not familiar with the area
there's a road map further down the page. This is a pretty short section so better bring some good walking shoes. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, in this general area you'll find lots of paddling places. The wonderful Connecticut scenery and the cool fresh
water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The Hogback Road to Riverton section is one of many paddling sections in this river system.
