  The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Connecticut are often easier than in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that quite a few of the sections in this state are pretty easy. The put-in is not too far from Hartford-West Hartford-East Hartford, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. The scenic beauty of Connecticut and the playfulness of the water make the trip here worthwhile.
    The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are great reasons to come. The Collinsville
to Unionville section of Farmington River - Collinsville in Connecticut is 3.5 miles long and it is classified as a class II section by American Whitewater. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good places. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. This is not the only paddling section in this river system, there are others too. This is a somewhat short section so  
you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times.

Briefly about the general area:
Farmington River - Collinsville is in close proximity to Stratton Brook State Park which is a striking spot. If the weather is tremendous here at Farmington River - Collinsville, you can go for a hike along the Tunxis Trail. Talcott Mountain State Park is a magnificent spot to stretch your legs a bit, and you can hit the beach if you want, Dossin Park Beach is practically right here. At this river you will always have a good time. There are plenty of folks from Unionville here at Farmington River - Collinsville.
