  The wonderful Litchfield County scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Farmington River - Riverton beats anything. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Connecticut is often easier than elsewhere, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many of the rivers in this state are not very demanding. This river system is full of great paddling sections, the Riverton to Satan's Kingdom parking area section is just one of them. The campgrounds
    here at Farmington River - Riverton are pretty good. Getting a good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors will make you glad you came. If you hurry you can run this section in a day but why not make it an overnighter,
so go ahead and pack your sleeping bag. If you're coming from Torrington it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good places for that around here. by American Whitewater to be a class I-III section.

Briefly about the general area:
During your visit to Farmington River - Riverton you'll meet some folks from Barkhamsted for sure. There is a pleasant hiking trail next to Farmington River - Riverton called the County Road Trail, and splendid skiing awaits you at Ski Sundown. This river has so much to offer. Near Farmington River - Riverton you hit upon the Metacomet Trail which is a great hiking trail. Stratton Brook State Park is a great spot to have a look at, and a wooded vicinity nearby is Peoples State Forest.
