The natural beauty of Connecticut and     the cool fresh water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. The England Road to Route 198 stretch of Natchaug River in Tolland/ Windham County is 0.9 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II-IV section of whitewater. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you won't find many other paddling spots. Great exercise and just being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come. There are some good stretches to paddle in this river system,   the England Road to Route 198 stretch is one of them. This is a very short stretch so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. The put-in location is a short drive from Willimantic, as you can see on the road map further down. Briefly about the general area: Time spent at Woodstock Town Beach right next door to Natchaug River is always glorious; Mashamoquet Brook State Park is a nice place to stretch your legs a bit. Lots of people from Chaplin come to Natchaug River, and Natchaug River is in close proximity to Mansfield Hollow State Park which is a picturesque site.
