Connecticut whitewater, Quinebaug River

Windham county, Below Route 6 section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.

CLASS III     0.5 miles
Why is this river so badly contaminated with tires and such?† There should be a massive clean-up.† My son and I kayaked it last year and I couldn't believe the stuff thrown in this beautiful river. Says Frankie

The nature scenery of Connecticut and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream will make you feel great. The starting location is a short drive from Willimantic, if you're not familiar with the area there's
a road map further down the page. This stretch of Quinebaug River in Connecticut is 0.5 miles long and is a class III section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The campgrounds here at Quinebaug River are pretty
good. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way there are not so many other good spots for that around here. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Connecticut are easier than the national norm, so keep in mind that a lot of the rivers in this state are suitable for beginners. There are plenty of hotels here if you want to spend a night, but if you donít have reservations you might end up
sleeping in your car. This stretch is very short so no need to bring snacks. There are a few other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well.

Briefly about the general area:
