The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Connecticut are often easier than in other states, so you'd better     keep in mind that lots of rivers in this state are good for beginners. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good rivers for that around here. The natural beauty of Connecticut and the cool fresh water attract people from near and far. This is a pretty decent length section, suitable for an afternoon trip. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just being out on the river for a while will have you coming back for more. The campgrounds here at Tenmile are pretty good. This section of Tenmile in Litchfield County is 4.2 miles long and it is classified as a class I-III section by American Whitewater. This is one of a small number   of paddling stretches in this river system, there are a few others too. Briefly about the general area: Gotta ski! Thunder Ridge is a wonderful spot to do that. Enjoy a lazy day on the beach at Mudge Pond Town Beach. Places like Macedonia Brook State Park are good to visit; Pine Ledge is pretty nearby if you're in a beach type of mood. This river is a wonderful place to visit. Going for a hike on the Appalachian National Scenic Trail is always a great adventure, and you'll almost certainly meet some folks from Wingdale here. Squantz Pond State Park is a glorious spot. The amount of rain that falls at Tenmile is close to the national average.
