Georgia whitewater, Apalachee River

Oconee county, Pot Leaf Shoals Apalachee park and play spot section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.

CLASS II-III     0.1 miles

Larry, The portion shown on the map is US441 AND US 129, they are the same from Athens to Eatonton, where 441 continues toward Dublin, and 129 bears right toward Macon, so the map is technically correct. Says Bo

The map is totally wrong. Macon highway is US441, NOT 129 as indicated. Says Larry

The scenic beauty of Georgia and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream beats anything. The put-in location is a
reasonable drive from Athens-Clarke County, as you can see on the road map further down. This stretch is very short so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. This stretch of Apalachee River
is 0.1 miles long and has been rated as a class II-III section by American Whitewater. The campgrounds here at Apalachee River are pretty good. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Great exercise and just being out on the river for a while will make you glad you came. The Pot Leaf Shoals Apalachee park and play spot stretch is one of a few paddling stretches in
this river system. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of rivers for that.
