Dried up. Rain water ditch. Don't bother. 7-6-2008 Says Ron S.
The wonderful Cobb/Fulton County scenery and the playfulness of the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. This stretch of Chattahoochee River in Georgia is 0.2 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II(III) section of whitewater. There are plenty of hotels here if you want to spend a night, but do book a room before you come because it is a |
very popular destination. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great attractions for lots of people. The campgrounds here at Chattahoochee River are pretty good. There are a few other stretches
| in this river system that can be paddled as well. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of places for that. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master in this state than those in other states, so don't forget that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. The put-in location is a short drive from Atlanta-Sandy Springs-Marietta, as you can see on | |
|
the road map further down. This section is very short so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch.
Briefly about the general area: Chattahoochee River is a site with many visitors from
Smyrna. Sweetwater Creek State Park is a delightful place; if you're looking for a nice visit, Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area is pretty near. This river is a great place to visit. For the duration of the days
of summer here at Chattahoochee River, high temperatures commonly get into the 80's, and the overnight is fairly chillier of course, usually in the 60's.
