  The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Georgia are often tougher than in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that rivers here are less forgiving. The scenic beauty of Georgia and the cool fresh water make the trip here worthwhile. Getting some good exercise and spending some quality time in nature are great reasons to come. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way in this general area you'll
    find lots of paddling spots. On this section you do get some distance, you can easily run it on an afternoon. This river system is full of great paddling sections, the Overflow Creek Road Bridge to Highway 28 Boater's Access
section is just one of them. When you're paddling down a Blue Ridge Mountains river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. The put-in location is a short drive from Seneca, as you can see on the road map further down. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. This section of Chattooga River - West Fork is 5 miles  
long and has been rated as a class I-II section by American Whitewater. The campgrounds here at Chattooga River - West Fork are pretty good.

Briefly about the general area:
Chattooga River - West Fork is not far at all from Highlands, and sites like Oconee State Park are perfect to go to. So much cool stuff to do in the Blue Ridge Mountains, not sufficient time. There's great hiking along the Three Forks Trail; you could always discover Pigpen Gap. This is a really good river. Good hiking is available along the Burrells Ford Trail, and you can hit the slopes at Scaly Mountain in the neighborhood.
