The scenic beauty of Rabun County and the playfulness of the water make the trip here worthwhile. This is a pretty short section so no need to bring snacks. This is one of a small number of paddling sections in this river system, there are a few others too. The Blue Ridge Mountains scenery is wonderful. The average whitewater     rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master in this state than those in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. The FS Road 86B bridge to Three Forks of West Fork Chattooga section of Holcombe Creek is 1.9 miles long and it is classified as a class IV-V+ section by American Whitewater. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Getting some good exercise and just hanging out with mother nature have a lot of people coming here. The campgrounds   here at Holcombe Creek are pretty good. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good spots. Briefly about the general area: Hiking is a popular thing to do around Holcombe Creek; Burrells Ford Trail is a good local trail. Black Rock Mountain State Park is a pleasant place to stretch your legs a bit; Holcombe Creek is not far at all from Highlands. This is a really good river. When you're here at Holcombe Creek it's always fun to explore Oconee State Park; a day on the slopes of Scaly Mountain is just what you need.
