Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Georgia is often tougher than elsewhere, so keep in mind that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. The Elder Mill Road park and huck stretch of Rose Creek is 0.2 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II-III section. There's camping available near     Rose Creek. Getting a good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great attractions for lots of people. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good places for that around here. This is the only paddling section along Rose Creek. This is a very short section so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Athens-Clarke County, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. Briefly   about the general area: Rose Creek is not far at all from Watkinsville, and the Scull Shoals Trail is a nice hiking trail nearby. If the weather is magnificent here at Rose Creek, you can go for a hike along the Mounds Trail. Throughout the summer months at Rose Creek temperatures are ordinarily in the 80's while overnight lows are frequently in the 60's. Through the winter this place gets highs in the 50's; throughout the dark hours in the winter at Rose Creek temperatures sink to the 30's. Rose Creek sees pretty high levels of rain. March is when you get the most rain here; September meanwhile is the driest month.
