Georgia whitewater, Tallulah River

Towns Rabun county, GA/North Carolina State Line to Tate Branch Campground section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.

CLASS I-II(III)     5.5 miles
This stretch of Tallulah River is 5.5 miles long and is a class I-II(III) section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Georgia tend to be more challenging than the national average, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. The put-in location is a short drive from Cornelia, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that.
The beautiful scenery of Towns/Rabun County and the playfulness of the water make the trip here worthwhile. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of spots for that. The beautiful Blue
Ridge Mountains scenery is an added bonus. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. A good workout and spending some quality time in nature are great attractions for lots of people. This is not the only paddling section in this river system, there are others too. On this section you do get some distance, suitable
for an afternoon trip. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp.
