Georgia whitewater, Tallulah River

Rabun county, Old Highway 441 to Tallulah Falls Lake section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.

CLASS II-III     4 miles
The Old Highway 441 to Tallulah Falls Lake section of Tallulah River is 4 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II-III section of whitewater. The average Georgia whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master than those in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that lots of rivers here are not for beginners. The natural beauty of Georgia and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water attract
people from near and far. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. This stretch is
mid length, it's good length for a morning trip. If you're coming from Cornelia it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The river winds through the Blue Ridge Mountains and you get great scenery. Getting a good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors are sure to keep you coming back for more. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking
or both, doesn't matter, this area has a large number of paddling spots. There are so many sections to paddle in this river system, the Old Highway 441 to Tallulah Falls Lake section is just one of many. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby.

Briefly about the general area:
While you're here at Tallulah River you will meet lots of folks from close by Lakemont, and skiing at Sky Valley is one of those things you just ought to do. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the Blue Ridge Mountains. Have a wonderful hiking adventure along the Bartram Trail, and a visit to Cascade Falls will fill your spirit with tremendous feelings.
