The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often tougher than in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that the rivers in this state are less manageable. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, and if     you make reservations in advance you're all set. The wonderful White/Lumpkin County scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Tesnatee Creek are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. The County Road 5976 to Old Copper Mine Road section is one of a few paddling sections in this river system. This is a short paddling stretch so better bring some good walking shoes. Briefly about the general area: Near Tesnatee Creek you find the Whitly Gap Trail which is a nice hiking trail, and a journey to Vogel State Park invigorates the soul. All the outdoors exciting stuff in the Blue Ridge Mountains will keep you coming back many times. You'll meet a lot of folks from Cleveland here, and Chattahoochee National Forest is a fine site. Coming to this river is always a good idea. Going for a hike on the Raven Cliff Falls Trail is always a delightful adventure.
