If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Georgia you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so better not forget that many runs in this state are not easy. The put-in location is a short drive from Gainesville, as you can see on the road map further down. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. This section of Yahoola     Creek is 6 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class I-IV section. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, you can easily run it on an afternoon. No need to look hard for hotels, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. The wild scenery of the Blue Ridge Mountains is great. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just being out on the river for a while have a lot of people coming here. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of spots for that. There are some good stretches to paddle in this river system, the US 19   North of Dahlonega to US 19 stretch is one of them. Briefly about the general area: Vogel State Park is a good location to stretch your legs a bit; you'll meet a lot of folks from Dahlonega here. That right there is a heap of fun things already but it goes on, the Blue Ridge Mountains has it all. Going for a hike on the DeSoto Falls Trail is always a great adventure. There is a magnificent hiking trail right next door to Yahoola Creek called the Black Mountain Trail. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 80's to Yahoola Creek, and during the night it cools down to the 60's.
