The beautiful scenery of Latah County and the cool fresh water will make you feel great. If you're coming from Moscow it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, as you can see on the road map further down. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. There are a few other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. This section of Big Bear River in Latah County is 16 miles long and |
it is classified as a class IV-V section by American Whitewater. If you have the time you can make this a two day trip, so go ahead and pack your camping stuff. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater
| rafting or kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling rivers. Getting a good workout and just being out on the river for a while have people coming from far and near. The average Idaho whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be harder to run than those in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are not easy.

along the White Pine National Recreation Trail; if you're going to from Kendrick, you won't be the only one. Hiking along the Sand Mountain Lookout Trail is magnificent fun. A normal amount of rain falls here at Big Bear
River. The wettest month of the year is typically December, that's the one that snows the most, and the driest month is July. Summertime brings highs in the 80's to Big Bear River, and throughout summer nights temperatures
are in the 40's. During the winter the highs are usually in the 30's, and winter nights come with lows in the 20's to Big Bear River.
