A stretch this long is of course too much for a one day trip, so make sure you pack enough food along with your camping gear. The scenic beauty of Valley County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water attract people from near and far. Whitewater paddling here in the Salmon River Mountains is a great experience. This     river system has a few good paddling stretches and the Big Creek Airstrip to Cache Bar section is one of them. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more demanding, so better not forget that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way in this general area you won't find many other paddling places. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just hanging out with mother nature are great attractions for lots of people. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing   to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Briefly about the general area: Going for a hike along the Coxey Creek Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this vicinity. Blackburn Saddle is a glorious spot to discover, and since you're here you can take a hike along the Bear Trap Saddle Trail. This is such a fun river. Summertime highs at Big Creek commonly tend to be in the 70's. Summer nighttime lows dip down to the 30's. The winter comes with highs in the 20's, and after the sun is down throughout the wintertime temperatures at Big Creek drop into the 0's.
