The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Idaho are often tougher than in other states, so keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. Not too many hotels     nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The Swamp Creek Trail to White Sand Creek section is one of a few paddling sections in this river system. The Swamp Creek Trail to White Sand Creek stretch of Big Sand Creek in Idaho County is 4 miles long and has been rated as a class V section by American Whitewater. This stretch has has enough mileage, suitable for an afternoon trip. The campgrounds here at Big Sand Creek are pretty good. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good rivers. The beautiful Bitterroot Range scenery   is an added bonus. A good workout and spending some quality time in nature will make you glad you came. Briefly about the general area: The Lee Ridge Trail is a wonderful hiking trail right next door to Big Sand Creek; close by you come across the Granite Ridge Trail which is a great hiking trail. This place, the Bitterroot Range, has so much outdoors fun stuff. High temperatures at Big Sand Creek all through the long summer days are in the 80's. During the dark hours of summer temperatures fall down into the 40's. All through the winter highs are in the 30's; night lows at Big Sand Creek during the wintertime generally sink into the 10's.
