  If you're coming from Twin Falls it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, as you can see on the road map further down. This stretch of Big Wood River in Lincoln County is 14.1 miles long and it is classified as a class I-III section by American Whitewater. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this is an area with not too many other spots for that. This section is long enough for an overnight trip
    if you take your time, so go ahead and pack your sleeping bag. The beautiful scenery of Idaho and the cool fresh water beats anything. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature have a lot of people coming here.
This is one of a small number of paddling sections in this river system, there are a few others too. The average Idaho whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master than those in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that rivers here are less forgiving. There arenít any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very  
popular destination.

All through the months of summer, highs typically are in the 80's at Big Wood River. Throughout the moonlight hours it's typically in the 40's. During the wintertime highs are generally in the 20's while the cold winter nights at Big Wood River are in the 0's. Around Big Wood River you donít get a lot of rainfall. Through the month of January you get the most snow around here while August is regularly the driest month.
