Idaho whitewater, Blackfoot River

Bingham county, Cutthroat Trout Campground to Trail Creek Bridge section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.

CLASS II     12 miles
The Cutthroat Trout Campground to Trail Creek Bridge section of Blackfoot River is 12 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II section. The put-in location is a short drive from Idaho Falls, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. The natural beauty of Bingham County and the water flowing gracefully down Blackfoot River are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. There are
so many sections to paddle in this river system, the Cutthroat Trout Campground to Trail Creek Bridge section is just one of many. The campgrounds here at Blackfoot River are pretty good. Since you're on this site you are
probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling places. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. This stretch is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so why not pack your sleeping bag too. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often
more difficult than elsewhere, so keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. A good workout and just hanging out with mother nature will make you glad you came.

Briefly about the general area:
