Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Idaho is often tougher than elsewhere, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. This stretch of Clearwater River - South Fork is 7.4 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class IV-V section. This is not the only |
paddling stretch in this river system, there are others too. This is a pretty decent length section, it's perfect for a one day trip. If you're coming from Lewiston it's not a long drive at all to the starting location,

the Reed Bar Trail. A tour to Clearwater River - South Fork wouldn’t be complete without a trip to close by Nez Perce National Forest. There is a good hiking trail near Clearwater River - South Fork called the Nellie Mountain
Trail. Clearwater River - South Fork is mostly a quite dried up place. May is the month that gets the most rain, and July is the month with the least moisture.
