The Senator Creek Campground to Prichard section of Coeur d'Alene River in Shoshone County is 26 miles long and it is classified as a class II section by American Whitewater. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more demanding, so don't forget that lots of rivers here are not for |
beginners. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. A good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great attractions for lots of people. The scenic beauty of Idaho and the cool fresh water
| are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way around here you won't find a large number of other rivers. This stretch has enough mileage for an overnight trip, so pack your camp stove. a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. When you're paddling down a Bitterroot Range river like this one you always get
great scenery along the way too.
Briefly about the general area: No need to travel far to explore out of the ordinary stuff like Devils Elbow. If you like skiing, you're in luck; Silver Mountain is near Coeur
d'Alene River; don't leave Coeur d'Alene River without first going for a hike along the Spyglass Miners Trail. This river has it all. A trip to Coeur d'Alene National Forest when you're here at Coeur d'Alene River is a good idea; you can go for a hike on the Rock City Pond Peak Trail.
