The scenic beauty of Clearwater/ Idaho County and the cool fresh water attract people from near and far. The starting point is not too far from Missoula, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. This section is quite short so no need to bring snacks. The river winds through the Bitterroot Range and you get great scenery. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, |
but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good spots. This section of Crooked

The average Idaho whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master than those in other states, so don't forget that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. the natural beauty of this vicinity. While you're here at Crooked Fork you can take a hike along the Granite Ridge Trail. All through the warmest time of the year highs here at Crooked Fork reach the 80's, and during summer
nights temperatures are in the 40's. Highs during the winter are typically in the 30's, and overnight lows through the winter for Crooked Fork tend to be in the 10's.
