The Mudflat Road to Rickard Crossing Owyhee River stretch of Deep Creek is 39 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class I-II section. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Boise City-Nampa, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. If you're     a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Now this is a pretty long section, so it looks like you will be camping out. The natural beauty of Idaho and the playfulness of the water make the trip here worthwhile. This is one of a small number of paddling stretches in this river system, there are a few others too. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often more difficult than elsewhere, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that rivers here are less forgiving.   Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are great reasons to come. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this area has a pretty small number of paddling places. Briefly about the general area: Going for a hike on the Grasshopper Trail is always a wonderful adventure. Not much rain falls here at Deep Creek. November is the month that gets the most rain, and the driest month of the year is July. For the period of the days of summer, highs ordinarily are in the 80's at Deep Creek. Once the sun is down it drops down to the 40's.
