The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Boise City-Nampa, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The beautiful scenery of Valley County and the playfulness of the water beats anything. This is a pretty decent length section, good for a one day paddling trip. Briefly about the general
area: A short visit to Deadhorse Rapids is always worthwhile; going for a hike on the Parks Peak Trail is always a tremendous adventure. And that's not everything you can do here in the Salmon River Mountains. There
are tremendous spots to explore along the Caton Lake Trail. The yearly rain here at Johnson Creek is about average. Of all the months in a year January is the one with the most snow, and July is the month with the least moisture.
