The nature scenery of Kootenai County and the cool fresh water attract people from near and far. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Idaho is often tougher than elsewhere, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. This section of Kootenai in Idaho is 14 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class II section. This stretch has enough mileage for an overnight trip, so |
pack your sleeping bag. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. There are
| a few other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. If you're coming from Coeur d'Alene it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. Great exercise and spending some quality time in nature have people coming from far and near. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way around here you won't find a large number of other places.
