The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Missoula, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The wonderful Idaho County scenery and the cool fresh water will make you feel great. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors have a lot of people coming here. | to American Whitewater a class IV section of whitewater. The campgrounds here at Lochsa River are pretty good. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Briefly about the general area: Hiking along the East Boyd Glover Roundtop National Recreation Trail is good fun, and when you're here it's always fun to stop at Clearwater
National Forest. Now, you may imagine that's plenty but there's even more fun stuff to do here in the Clearwater Mountains. Stanley Hot Springs is an inspiring spot to go to during your stay. For the period of the warmest
time of the year at Lochsa River highs are frequently in the 80's with night lows in the 50's. During the wintertime this place gets highs in the 30's, and through the dark hours in the winter at Lochsa River temperatures descend to the 20's.
