The Lolo Campground to Cottonwood Flats section of Lolo Creek is 12 miles long and it is classified as a class II+ section by American Whitewater. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Moscow, as you can see on the road map further down. The beauty of the Clearwater Mountains is a great plus for this river. If you hurry you can run this stretch     in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so why not pack your sleeping bag too. This river system has a few good paddling stretches and the Lolo Campground to Cottonwood Flats section is one of them. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master in this state than those in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. Getting some good exercise and spending some quality time in   nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Briefly about the general area: Lolo Creek is not far at all from Kooskia. During the summer months highs here at Lolo Creek get into the 80's. Throughout the dark hours of summer temperatures descend down into the 40's. The winter comes with highs in the 30's, and overnight lows at Lolo Creek throughout the winter generally plunge into the 10's. At Lolo Creek you don’t see much precipitation.
