The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master in this state than those in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this is an area with plenty of places for that. The put-in location is a reasonable     drive from Coeur d'Alene, as you can see on the road map further down. The Tavern to Route 95 stretch of Pack River in Idaho is 7 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class II section. The campgrounds here at Pack River are pretty good. This is a pretty decent length section, it's good length for a morning trip. The Tavern to Route 95 section is one of a few paddling sections in this river system. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Briefly about the general area: There are plenty of people from Hope here at Pack River, and on a tremendous day   you can take a hike along the Shertz Trail. The Upper North Fork Grouse Creek Trail is a wonderful hiking trail near Pack River. Pack River is a good place of normal precipitation. November is the month that gets the most rain; July is the month with the least moisture. For the duration of the warm months at Pack River highs are ordinarily in the 80's, and all through the night it cools down to the 40's. During the wintertime highs are ordinarily in the 30's with temperatures at Pack River dipping down into the 10's during winter nights.
