This stretch of Payette River is -blank- miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II+ section of whitewater. The nature scenery of Boise County and the cool fresh water will make you feel great. The starting point is not too far from Boise City-Nampa. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Getting a good workout and just |
being out on the river for a while will have you coming back for more. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good places. This
| is not the only paddling stretch in this river system, there are others too. The average Idaho whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be harder to run than those in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby.

don't leave without visiting Eagle Island State Park. A splendid location to stop at in the neighborhood of Payette River is Peterson Gulch, and do take a hike on the Shirts Creek Trail. This river is so wonderful. Payette
River is a location that is reasonably waterless ordinarily. November is when you get the most rain here, and the driest month is July. High temperatures at Payette River all through the summer months are in the 90's. Throughout
the moonlight hours it's mostly in the 50's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 30's, and night lows at Payette River all through the winter regularly plunge into the 10's.
