The put-in is not too far from Boise City-Nampa, as you can see on the road map further down. This section of Payette River - Middle Fork in Idaho is 3 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class IV section. The river winds through the Salmon River Mountains and you get great scenery. There are plenty of other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. This is a short paddling stretch so no need to bring snacks. The scenic beauty of Idaho and the cool fresh water make the trip here worthwhile. Briefly about the general area: Going to Boise National Forest in the neighborhood of Payette River - Middle Fork is a pleasant thing to do, and while you're here you will meet lots
of folks from nearby Cascade. Be careful coming to the Salmon River Mountains, you might not ever want to return back home again. A short visit to Hot Springs is always worthwhile, and Payette River - Middle Fork is near
Rocky Canyon which is certainly worth taking a look at. This river has it all. Go for a hike on the Sixmile Trail, and don't leave Payette River - Middle Fork without first going for a hike along the One Spoon Way.
