and kayaking in this state is often more difficult than elsewhere, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. The beautiful Clearwater Mountains scenery is an added bonus.
| This is one of a small number of paddling sections in this river system, there are a few others too. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. paddling spots. If you hurry you can run this section in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so pack your camping stuff.
Briefly about the general area: Hiking along the Broken Leg Trail is good fun, and
there are plenty of people from Lucile here at Slate Creek. Whohoo, so many amusing things in one place! The Clearwater Mountains is unbeatable! Going for a hike along the Lava Butte Trail will let you absorb the natural
beauty of this area. Not much rainfall falls here at Slate Creek. May is the month that gets the most rain, and February is when it's the driest.
