The nature scenery of Idaho and the cool fresh water have people coming here. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Moscow, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. There are a few other sections     in this river system that can be paddled as well. Getting your paddling muscles activated and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great reasons to come. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more demanding, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. This stretch has enough mileage for an overnight trip, so go ahead and pack your camp stove. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a pretty small number   of paddling places. The wild scenery of the Clearwater Mountains is great. Briefly about the general area: The good folks of Santa like to hang out nearby, and on a wonderful day you can take a hike along the White Pine Scenic Drive. Yeah, come up here to the Clearwater Mountains for a wonderful time. A typical amount of rain falls here at St. Maries River. The month of December is the wettest with most of the snow while July is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
