The scenic beauty of Idaho and the playfulness of the water attract people from near and far. There are plenty of other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. The Colt Creek Cabin to White Sand Campground stretch of White Sand Creek is 12 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class III-IV     section. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. This section is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so pack your camping stuff. The beautiful Bitterroot Range scenery is an added bonus. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, there are lots of good spots for that around here. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often tougher than in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many runs in this state are not easy. A good workout   and just hanging out with mother nature are great attractions for lots of people. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. Briefly about the general area: There's glorious hiking along the Granite Ridge Trail; the Lee Ridge Trail offers hiking at its best. That right there is plenty of entertaining things already but it goes on, the Bitterroot Range has it all. An average amount of rain falls at White Sand Creek. January is the wettest month with most snow; July is the month with the least moisture. Through the summer months at White Sand Creek temperatures are commonly in the 80's.
