  The nature scenery of Fountain County and the playfulness of the water attract people from near and far. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Crawfordsville, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. This stretch of Big Shawnee Creek is 2.9 miles long and has been rated as a class II section by American Whitewater. This is a somewhat short section so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on
    the river in one stretch. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Getting a good workout
and spending some quality time in nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often easier than elsewhere, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that rivers in this state are not as hard as elsewhere. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this is an area with not too many other spots for that. There are a few other stretches in this river system that  
can be paddled as well.

Briefly about the general area:
Here at Big Shawnee Creek there are plenty of folks from Attica. All through the long summer days highs here at Big Shawnee Creek get into the 80's. Throughout the moonlight hours it's typically in the 60's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 30's; winter nights come with lows in the 10's to Big Shawnee Creek. Big Shawnee Creek is a good place of typical rainfall. Of all the months in a year May is the one with the most rain, and January is when it's the driest.
