This section of Cedar River in Black Hawk County is 0.05 miles long and has been rated as a class II section by American Whitewater. The starting location is
    a short drive from Waterloo-Cedar Falls, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. This is a very short section so better bring some good walking shoes. If you'll be staying in
a hotel you're in luck, lodging is available very near the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Iowa is often easier than elsewhere, so if you're not from around here don't forget that rivers in this state are not as hard as elsewhere. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just hanging out with mother nature are sure to keep you coming back for more.  
The wonderful Iowa scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Cedar River will make you feel great. Cedar River doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the Cedar Falls stretch is the only one.

Briefly about the general area:
While you're here at Cedar River you will meet lots of folks from close by Cedar Falls. A visit to Cedar River wouldn’t be complete without a visit to nearby George Wyth Memorial State Park. Summertime highs at Cedar River generally tend to be in the 80's. Once the sun is down it plunges down to the 60's. The winter comes with highs in the 20's with temperatures at Cedar River dipping down into the 0's during winter nights.
